Periwinkle or Myrtle as it is sometimes called is an exceptional ground cover for most landscape applications. Each plant forms vining offshoots, rooting along the way. Glossy, dark green oval leaves are topped from mid-to late spring with large flowers. ‘Bowles’ variety is an intense blue sport that has larger and glossier leaves than its predecessor and more prolific bloomer. Some sporadic bloom during summer and fall months.
Pinch the tips of the vinca vines occasionally to encourage bushy plants. Apply slow release fertilizer in early spring and fall to encourage good root growth and bloom.
